Hi, I’m Kelsey Farkas and I’m originally from Ardmore, Pennsylvania! I graduated from Columbia University in 2022 where I was also a member of the field hockey team. Now, I am fortunate to continue playing as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team. In addition to field hockey, I also enjoy running, skiing, listening to podcasts, and exploring new places in my free time.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved playing sports. When I was in fifth grade, I joined my local CYO field hockey team to try out the sport and see if I even liked it. At the time, I did not know just how far field hockey would take me. I started attending club spring practices as well and knew this was the sport for me. I continued to play multiple sports throughout middle school and high school to compete and make new friends, but ultimately field hockey stuck. In this sport, I truly value the speed of play, team aspect, and the dedication it takes to continually reach new personal goals.
When COVID hit in 2020 and my college season was canceled, I decided to go abroad and play in the EY hockey league in Ireland with Catholic Institute. I was able to fine tune my skills and gain a new perspective on the game, which I am incredibly thankful for. Meeting new friends and gaining a whole new outlook on the ways I could improve my game helped my development drastically. I had the opportunity to try out for the Women’s National team in the summer of 2021, and was selected to the team that June. I earned my first cap with the team in November of 2021, which was a proud moment for me. While I unfortunately have been dealing with injuries over the past few months, I have never been more thankful for my sponsorship at Otter Hockey. They have provided me with nothing but the best field hockey gear and their support has been overwhelming.
